What we collect

You can read every passage and take every quiz without signing in. In that mode, we collect no personal information — your progress is stored only in your browser’s local storage and is never sent to us.

If you sign in with Google, we receive and store:

• Your name, email address, and profile picture URL from Google
• A randomly generated user ID
• Records of which passages you’ve completed and your best score on each quiz
• Your Premium status, if applicable
• For Premium users only: your reading-speed preferences (WPM, span, ORP)

We do not collect passwords (Google handles authentication), payment information beyond what our payment processor needs, IP-address logs beyond standard server logs, or any data we don’t actively use.

How we use it

• Account & sessions: to keep you signed in across devices.
• Progress sync: to remember which passages you’ve completed so the checkmarks follow you across devices.
• Reader preferences (Premium): to keep your speed-reader settings consistent across devices.
• Premium gating: to hide ads and unlock paid features for Premium users.

We do not use your data to train models, profile you, send marketing emails, or share it with anyone outside the third parties listed below.

Cookies & local storage

We use:

• Session cookies (essential): set by Auth.js after you sign in, so you stay signed in. These expire when your session ends or after 30 days.
• CSRF / PKCE cookies (essential): short-lived security cookies used only during the sign-in flow.
• Local storage (essential): stores your quiz progress and reader preferences in your browser. You can clear it any time via your browser’s site-data settings.
• Google AdSense cookies (advertising): placed by Google’s ad scripts to show relevant ads and measure ad performance. See “Advertising” below.

Advertising

Comprehend2XL is free thanks to ads served by Google AdSense. AdSense uses cookies and similar technologies to show personalized or non-personalized ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites.

• You can review or change Google’s use of your data for ad personalization at Google Ad Settings.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.
• Premium users see no ads on Comprehend2XL and no AdSense scripts are loaded for them.

Third parties

We rely on a small number of third-party services to operate the site:

• Google — sign-in (OAuth) and advertising (AdSense).
• Vercel — hosting and CDN for the website itself.
• Turso — managed database for accounts and progress.

Each operates under its own privacy policy. We share with them only what’s needed to run the service.

Children’s privacy

Comprehend2XL content is suitable for readers of all ages, including younger children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 unless they sign in with a Google account. If a child under 13 has signed in, a parent or guardian can email us at shlokverma2014@gmail.com to request deletion of the account and all associated data.

For child-directed visitors, Google AdSense serves only non-personalized ads per Google’s child-directed treatment settings.

Your rights

You can:

• Access all the data we hold about you — email us and we’ll send it.
• Delete your account and all associated data — email us and we’ll wipe it within 7 days.
• Stop using the service at any time without notice — your data is then on the standard deletion path.
• Clear progress locally by clearing your browser’s site data for Comprehend2XL.

Residents of the EU, UK, California, and other regions with data-protection laws have additional rights under their local regulations (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, etc.) — write to us and we’ll honor any valid request.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, we’ll update the “Effective” date at the top and, for signed-in users, post a notice on the site. Minor wording fixes don’t require notice.
