Leo's Secret Friend: The Talking Oak Tree

Leo loved the city park. He was a quiet boy who liked to watch the clouds float by. His favorite spot was always under a very old oak tree. This tree was huge! Its branches spread wide like big, green arms. Leo often sat by its rough bark, just thinking about different things. He felt safe and calm there.

One sunny afternoon, Leo heard a soft, rustling sound. It was not just the wind blowing through the leaves. It sounded more like a whisper, very low and slow. "Hello, Leo," a deep, gentle voice said. Leo looked around quickly. No one else was near him. He looked up at the giant tree. "Was that you?" he asked, his voice barely a squeak.

The oak tree seemed to sigh, its leaves rustling softly. "Yes, it was me," the voice rumbled. "I have seen many springs and many winters. I have watched countless children play and many birds build their cozy nests. But you, Leo, are the very first one who ever stopped to truly listen to me."

Leo felt a happy shiver go through him. He loved secrets, and this was the best one ever. "What do you see?" he whispered back to his new friend.

"I see the busy little squirrel burying its nuts for later," said the tree. "I see the warm sun shining brightly through my green leaves. I feel the cool rain when it comes. And most importantly, I see you, my quiet friend, who truly understands. Our talks will be just between us." Leo smiled, knowing his special friend would always be there, waiting to share park stories.
